Park - Lighting Archived600 Bellevue Ave Oakland 94610, United States - Lake Merritt
POWER LINES ARE DOWN on the decorative lighting surrounding the lake. I did not see wires dangling from poles—the downed wires appeared to be disconnected and so dead—but I didn’t survey it closely. The gusty winds I felt could take down wires in a way that MIGHT be dangerous to curious passers-by
Location is approximate as I was jogging without my phone. But it is maybe 5–10 poles down from the pergola on the LakeShore side of the lake

Traffic Safety (non-emergency) Archived4111 Broadway Oakland, CA, 94611, USA - Piedmont Avenue
Traffic signals at 41st & Broadway are timed too quickly for cyclists to cross Broadway safely.
41st is a recommended cycling route so extra consideration should be given to safe crossing.
This AM I saw the light turn from red to green as I was coming (westbound) down the hill on 41st, but the signal turned yellow seconds before I could even enter the intersection. I was (just) able to stop but if I'd chosen to keep going so close to the intersection, I could not have gotten across before the Broadway traffic started up.
The light timing should allow a cyclist, starting from zero to cross before the light changes, but it doesn't even allow enough time to one already traveling at likely speeds of 10–20 feet/second, (~7–13mph) to cross safely.
The timing is fine if a pedestrian has pressed the crossing button but this seldom happens for me.
I think a longer yellow time than the standard(?) 3 seconds would be a big help to let cyclists finish crossing safely if they start thru before the light turns.
Of course, cars going up & down Broadway often go pretty fast & may not notice cyclists if they're in the least distracted. This seems like fatalities waiting to happen.

Traffic Safety (non-emergency) Archived650 Mandana Blvd Oakland, CA, 94610, USA - Trestle Glen
STOP sign for Mandana drivers at Calmar is barely visible due to trees in front. Westbound is bad; eastbound is also an issue. With street paint missing it's DOUBLY hard for drivers to see STOP in time.
Today, I saw one driver jam on his brakes at the last minute—and still blow thru the intersection dangerously at 20 mph plus—and ANOTHER, a near-accident, where a driver coming down Calmar had to swerve to the side when a truck coming down Mandana cruised thru the intersection.
Likely, a tree-trim is all that's needed *in addition to* the road re-paint.

3501 Lakeshore Ave Oakland, CA 94610, USA - Trestle GlenIntersection of Lakeshore & Mandana. Several times, lights do not respond to traffic from either direction driving on Mandana. I have only observed the problem late at night (after 11 or 12?) or early AM (before 6, maybe earlier). The Lakeshore lights may cycle to give drivers going uphill from Lake Merritt a left turn arrow, then let Lakeshore traffic go both ways and then repeat w/o allowing Mandana drivers to go. The lights seem to work fine during daytime and evening hours. Late night, drivers coming to the intersection on Mandana usually wait a minute or two and then drive thru the red lights.
