Kids need a place to hang out and feel they belong. There is absolutely nothing in P.A. that entices kids to go to without feeling they don't belong. Not all kids like bowling or the pool hall! We're luck that we even have a skatebpard park but not all kids are skateboarders either so that leaves another percentage with no playground. In winter months, only place to go is to one of the indoor/ outdoor arenas but then again not all kids skate or play hockey. So, the age old question is, what do we do? Kids approaching the drinking age seem to be attracted to places like the Forks to hang out at outdoor parties in the summer nights, especially weekends! Most kids today do not have any respect for private property, let alone public property. Once again, what do we do, close up the area with a wire fence and lock it down for the weekends? Perhaps a rental key or user fee should be the answer where you pay for a day of picnicking at the park. All you do is pay at the government office to pay for an access key to get into the area of choice and it always remains locked after hours and weekends!? What else do we do with unruly people and adults who like to frequent and drink in parks that are unattended? I know it is sad when we discover damages to nice areas and irritates most civil people but we never seem to do anything about them, other than complain?! Suggestions should be sent to Parks Can or to the ones who should be maintaing them on how to protect them from being damaged!? Hard to control drunks no matter where they are. They are like the energizer bunny they just keep on going and going and going, especially to places where they are not welcome!
